Kannapolis Fire Truck Parade and Festival scheduled for October 1

KANNAPOLIS, NC (WBTV) – The Kannapolis Fire Department will host the Fire Truck Parade and Kannapolis Fire Prevention Festival from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, October 1. The parade will begin at 11 a.m. and proceed along Laureate Way and N. Research Campus Drive between City Hall and the North Carolina Research Campus.

Immediately after the parade of fire trucks, the children’s firefighter costume contest will take place at 12:00 in front of the town hall. Children 12 and under are encouraged to wear a fire-related costume. Prizes will be awarded for the most original fire department, most similar to the Kannapolis Fire Department and the Chief’s Choice Award. Registration is not compulsory.

The theme for this year’s Fire Prevention Festival is “Fire Won’t Wait – Plan Your Escape”, emphasizing fire prevention, how to operate home smoke alarms and planning your escape route. ‘evacuation. This free family event continues to grow each year with many activities and fun for all.

During the festival there will be music, emergency vehicles, helicopters, a firefighter challenge course for children, inflatable games, lots of fun activities and vendors. Cabarrus Safe Kids will also offer free car seat and booster seat checks in the Town Hall parking lot.

Food and beverages will be available for purchase.
