As players continue to play Apex Legends in Season 12, some wish the developers at Respawn would bring back classic hop-ups, such as the Skullpiecer.
Apex Legends is one of the most successful battle royale games on the market today, with its popularity rivaling that of other games in the genre, such as fortnite and Call of Duty: Warzone. The reasons for the success of the title in recent years are many. A few examples include its fast movement and the wide and diverse cast of Legends which help keep the gameplay fresh. In addition to these positives, another aspect of the game that many players enjoy is the various hop-ups available for weapons.
As part of the loot pool since Season 1, hop-ups have been doing the gunplay in Apex Legends feel unique. They are special attachments that can be equipped with certain weapons that modify their abilities. While the game introduced several new hop-ups this season, like the Kinetic Feeder, players seem to like some of the classics better.
Recently, fans took to Reddit to discuss hop-ups in Apex Legends. Among the comments, one player desperately wanted the Skullpiercer hop-up to return for the Wingman. Known on Reddit as Supercomfyplanet, they claimed that the attachment not only rewarded players with extra damage on headshots, but it made the gun sound even better. Since posting their plea for the reinstatement of the hop-up, many fans have taken notice. With over 3.2,000 upvotes on Reddit, many seemed to echo Supercomfyplanet’s sentiment.
While the topic of this Reddit post was bringing back the Skullpiercer for the Wingman, it sparked a discussion about reintroducing other classic hop-ups to battle royale. For example, some players wanted to see the Selectfire receiver make a return for the Prowler and Havoc. Additionally, the Anvil Receiver was another popular accessory that many in the community believe deserves another shot in the game.
While many fans were supportive of the return of these classic hop-ups, some were less enthusiastic about the idea. According to a Reddit user known as Azbann, they thought the Wingman was already high on the current weapon meta. They were worried that bringing back an attachment that increased weapon damage would turn out to be OP.
It will be interesting to see how the developers at Respawn Entertainment respond to this feedback from fans in the community. Maybe they’ll look to take some players’ advice and add a throwback LTM into the mix, giving players a chance to relive the classic Seasons metas. Either way, it looks like players will have to wait and see what’s in store for battle royale in the coming days.
Apex Legends is available on PC, PS4, Switch, and Xbox One, while a mobile version is available in select regions.
